Do you need a new pillow?
Overall Condition
Examine the covering to see if it is stained, ripped or disintegrating. If it is, then you need a new pillow.
Pillow Support
Test your pillow for support by:
For Down and Feather Pillows: Lay your fluffed pillow on a flat hard surface. Fold your pillow in half and squeeze out all the air. A pillow with support will spring back open to its original form. If your pillow does not spring back then you need a new pillow that will support your head and neck.
For Polyester Pillows: Fluff and fold as above. Place a 10 ounce weight on the folded pillow (a medium size sneaker will do). If the pillow has proper support it will throw the weight and unfold itself. A pillow without support will remain folded.
Pillow Test information supplied by Dr. Maas.
