Best Kept Secrets
Caution: Mattress Consumer Advisory:
What about Bob?
Let us tell you about Bob, to us its almost as entertaining as the movie comedy starring Bill Murray.
Little ole country bumpkin Bob and his cohorts are masterful marketers, spending millions upon millions of dollars advertising no-name furniture and bedding.
With Regards to Bedding
Its the biggest smoke and mirrors show going. The veiled pitch is that Bobs very own generic mattresses are the same as a famous "S" brands mattresses without the expensive label. The truth is that while Bobs mattresses are made in the same Serta factory by the same Serta workers with a few of the same Serta ingredients, it most certainly is NOT a Serta product. None of Bobs "very own" mattress sets contain the unique patented features and exotic upholstery components that constitute an authentic Serta Perfect Sleeper set.
Sizzle Without the Steak
With Bobs "very own" mattresses, its all about the sizzle with little or nothing to do with the steak. His watered down imitations of the "S" brands are just that. While they might look and feel great, dont be fooled
theyre not going to last.
What About the Warranty?
What about the warranty? Yeah, sure there is a warranty, in fact in some cases its twice that of the "S" brands. But take a closer look. Its not a Serta warranty. Its a Bobs "limited warranty" thats chock full of IFs, ANDs or BUTs!

Mattress Consumer Alert: Sliding Scale Commission Scheme
Beware of stores whose pricing and sales policies are based on a sliding scale commission scheme. What does sliding scale commission mean? Its a ploy designed to maximize the store and salespersons profit at your expense.
Heres How They Play the Game
First, the sleazy store employing this tactic will hike up their prices artificially. For example, theyll take a queen set that Better Bedding would have on sale at $699 and tag a comparable model on their showroom floor for $999. Considering that to some extent a mattress purchase is a blind purchase, meaning you cant look inside and know for certain what it might be equivalent to in other stores, you might actually get duped into buying it for $999. In this case the sleazy store just made a dishonest $300 additional profit. The sleazy stores accomplice, Joe or Jane salesperson, made a 10% commission or $100 on a simple queen set sale, and you got screwed.
Whats the 2nd scenario?
Sleazy salesperson senses that youre suspecting something smells funny and before you can sniff it out, the price drops $100 to $899 or maybe even $200 to an incredulous $799! You might say to yourself that, well even if the original $999 queen set price is higher than Better Beddings, surely it couldnt be that much higher and you take the bait and bite.
Well here is what you swallowed.
You paid $100 to $200 more than you should have. The sleazy store again enjoys an outrageous additional profit, albeit $100 or $200 less, but this is where it gets interesting. Poor sleazy salespersons commission percentage drops precipitously and thus he walks away with only one half the money he would have if he was able to hold you at the $999 price. But sleazy salesperson says to himself that half a loaf is better than no loaf at all and looks to the next victim.
